Our
trip through Victoria start in the capital city Melbourne.
This city has a real metropolitian feel about it, with
historical and futuristic buildings. In Ballarat everything
reminds us of the goldfever that lasted only thirty years, but
changed this town and its looks forever. In Geelong, the second
city of Victoria we can see in the former seaport beautiful
old buildings and woolwarehouses. Via the Great Ocean Road we
visit Apollo Bay and Port Campbell, originaly fishing villages
but grown in to real seaside resorts. We leave the coast and
go first to the Grampions National Park where previously
several Aboriginal-tribes used to live. Our next visit is the
Little Desert National Park. After this we explore some places
along the Murray River. In Bendigo, the city which had the most
profitable gold findings, we visited the Golden Dragon Museum.
Also nearby in the historical town of Beechworth did they find
a lot of gold, so we tried to do some gold-panning in the
river. At Lakes Entrance we reach the coast and go towards
Wilsons Promontory National Park and the Dandenong Ranges.
Along the numerous vineyards in the Yarra Valley we reach
finally Lake Eildon, a watersport El Dorado in the Great
Dividing Range.
